This British band recently broke through main stream American radio with their song, “Pompeii.” As much as I enjoy the poppy quality and men’s choir voices in the background, this Monsieur Adi remix is colossally better! The French electronic producer leaves the captivating vocals of lead singer Dan Smith untouched, while putting an EDM character to the song with a prominent Justice vibe. Bastille‘s debut studio album, Bad Blood, was released in the UK back in March. Today their album is released in the US; unfortunately, this remix is not on it. Good news is you can download this euphoric beat here for free.
This song is guaranteed love at first listen. With the beautiful female vocals, brilliant percussion, and Four Tet flow, this remix demands attention. It’s tough to go wrong when you have a band composed of already successful and respectable names in the industry such as Radiohead‘s producer Nigel Godrich, Beck and R.E.M‘s drummer, Joey Waronker, along with singer/songwriter Laura Bettinson. According to their Facebook page, Ultraista was conceived from a love of afrobeat, electronica, art and inspired by tequila. Sounds just about right, enjoy.
“All mine, all mine, you can be all mine,” can’t get these words out of my head and I don’t mind. The xx has the type of music that just begs to be remixed, and Miami DJ Derek Walin did an excellent job with this one. His downtempo electro beats combined with the subtle and sexy voices of Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim melt together to create this sleek and catchy new house tune that will make your head bob and your body groove.
Want to hear some real talent from a young female vocalist who doesn’t feel the need to twerk on everything in sight? Lorde is a 16 year old singer/songwriter from New Zealand, shaking up the industry with her incredible voice, catchy beats, and luscious locks. With her debut EP, The Love Club, under her belt, her upcoming debut studio album, Pure Heroine, is on the horizon, releasing September 27th.
Another youngster well beyond his years is Australian electronic dance producer, Drew Carmody, aka LDRU. This 19 year old signed with Future Classic, delivers a deliciously smooth synth infused remix with vocal manipulations and added percussions.
Washed Out killed it last night at FYF! It was an experience for the senses characterized by chillwave synths, dream-pop sequences, twinkling lights, and the aroma of marijuana wafting through the air. It was indie heaven to say the least. Front man, Ernest Greene, played notable songs such as, “New Theory,” “Amor Fati,” “Feel It All Around,” as well as the new single, “It All Feels Right” from his most recent album, Paracosm, released August 13th. This remix by RAC delivers soothing and relaxing vibes likely to trigger warm feelings of sublime nostalgia. It is featured on Remix Artist Collectives‘s second remix album, RAC Vol.2.
With Flume’s trap influenced beats, Chet Faker’s vocals, and Ta-Ku’s remix stylings, this song has become one of my favorite summer jams. Ta-Ku elevates this track with bumping bass drops and bass infused vocal shifts. These Australian natives take you on a journey into an electro Indian dub cave. Download the free track below and you’ll know what I mean.
Flume will be performing at Fuck Yea Fest tonight in L.A., alongside My Bloody Valentine, MGMT, Beach House, Washed Out, Poolside, Holy Ghost! and much more.
“ALL I WANT IS BITCHES, BIG BOOTY BITCHES!!” Quality lyrics from one of the best rappers there ever was. “Machine Gun Funk” was the fourth track released from Biggie’s debut album, Ready To Die, released back in September of 1994. As much as Biggie is missed, Los Angeles native Woody reinvents this track and brings that funk back to life.
Alt-J have acquired an ever growing following since their debut album, An Awesome Wave, released May 2012. In a years time they have accumulated over 120 thousand Soundcloud followers, over 500 thousand Facebook likes, and over 31 million Youtube views! This indie rock quartet creates a sound of their own with their distinct take on alternative pop that combines poignant folk verses, crushing synths, smart hip hop syncopations, grooving percussion, and tight vocal harmonies. Producer RKTboy from Salt Lake City gives “Breezeblocks” a chill wave, electronic twist that makes for a prime head-bobbing, feel good remix.
Welcome ladies, gentleman, and music lovers alike to my very first post! Not going to lie, I’ve never been a die hard Rihanna fan, but this song has become the secret ingredient to my daily musical recipes. As much as the original exudes an emotional feeling of longing and desperation, this remix by NYC producer Branchez integrates accelerated beats, heightened vocals, and looped verses to transform the song into a trap anthem. This song makes me want to throw my hands in the air and drop it low like I just don’t care; hope it does the same for you.
