Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim are sisters from Los Angeles who know how to rock. Their sound resembles a mix of 90′s R&B mixed with 70′s Rock. In others words, if Destiny’s Child teamed up with Fleetwood Mac, their musical creation would sound similar to HAIM. Their debut album, Days Are Gone, released September 27th and has been a huge success. The girls have been touring and playing music festivals all around the world. This past weekend they performed Sunday at the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco and absolutely killed it. “Falling” gets a funky electro disco remix from the UK duo, Psychemagik.
The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye, is a 23 year old singer-songwriter that has been shaking up the R&B scene since 2010. This Canadian native’s musical artistry is rooted in an unconventional R&B style, placing emphasis on his falsetto voice, slow tempos, rumbling bass, and influences from alternative and indie music. Pharrell Williams gives this track a funky fresh remix with a Neptune-esque production that oozes class and sex appeal. “Wanderlust” is part of Abel‘s debut studio album, Kiss Land, released September 10th.
This upbeat R&B track is elevated into an electro infused jazz jam in full Big Gigantic fashion. If you are every lucky enough to see Big Gigantic live, the experience is depicted by a drummer and saxophonist blending jazz and hip hop music with electronic beats, not to mention the mind-boggling visuals and lights that synchronize to the beat of the music. Aloe Blacc recently entered into the EDM scene by lending his soulful vocals on Avicii‘s latest single, “Wake Me Up,” which also features work from Incubus guitarist, Mike Einziger.
