The California brothers, Hippie Sabotage, took samples from Tov Lo’s “Habits” and added some downtempo trap beats to create an emotional electric rollercoaster masterpiece. Tov Lov’s looped vocals are so beautiful yet sad at the same time. It is a story that anyone can relate to and identify with, which is part of why this track is so addicting.
This electro reggae jam by British synth-pop band Hot Chip is taken to the next level by Diplo’s DJ project, Major Lazer. Their style can be characterized by combining components of electronic, reggae, dancehall, moombahton, dubstep, and trap. The remix is featured on Major Lazer‘s mixtape, Major Lazer Strikes Back, Vol. 1. Also check out their second full length album, Free The Universe, released April 2013, featuring collaborations with Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig, Dirty Projectors‘ Amber Coffman, Tyga, Flux Pavilion, Bruno Mars, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, and more. Major Lazer will also be performing this Saturday, October 19th, at the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco.
These two may seem like an unlikely pairing; however, the fusion of First Aid Kit‘s folky female vocals and Baauer‘s trap beats make a wonderful addition to the musical marriage known as folk-step. First Aid Kit‘s vocal harmonies and woodsy, folk-influenced songwriting take influence from the likes of Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom. ”Winter Is All Over You” received an electronic rework from the “Harlem Shake” master himself including chopped vocals and some serious bass. Enjoy the free remix.
Welcome ladies, gentleman, and music lovers alike to my very first post! Not going to lie, I’ve never been a die hard Rihanna fan, but this song has become the secret ingredient to my daily musical recipes. As much as the original exudes an emotional feeling of longing and desperation, this remix by NYC producer Branchez integrates accelerated beats, heightened vocals, and looped verses to transform the song into a trap anthem. This song makes me want to throw my hands in the air and drop it low like I just don’t care; hope it does the same for you.
