Ginuwine – Pony (Viceroy Remix)

It’s time for some 90′s R&B and Ginuwine is more than a prime candidate to be remixed. “Pony” was released back in 1996 as Ginuwine‘s debut single and marked Timbaland‘s mainstream breakthrough with the production of Ginuwine‘s debut album, Ginuwine…The Bachelor. Summer may be coming to a close but this remix is keeping it alive with its tropical and islander disco-house beats. According to San Francisco producer Viceroy, “It is Summertime all the time.”

Fatboy Slim – Praise You (Maribou State Remix)

Fatboy-Slim_0

“Praise You” was released as the third single from Fatboy Slim‘s second studio album, You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby, in 1999. This big beat hit is reinvented with a chilled out electro vibe with the addition of a soothing orchestral opening sequence that provides an excellent progression to the heart of the song. The producers of the remix consists of two music making, tea drinking, boys from the Shire, known as Maribou State.

Justin Timberlake – Suit & Tie (Dillon Francis Remix)

While the talented Mr. Timberlake is topping charts and wooing the ladies in a more classy and sophisticated way, Dillon Francis is rocking the dance floor with this booty dropping remix. As one of the pioneers of moombahton, a fusion of house and reggaeton, Francis elevates this track with chopped vocals, filthy drops, and that bump-n-grind appeal. This is an utterly and completely unique Arcade Fire cover from Mr. Little Jeans; the misleading stage name for Norwegian songstress Monica Birkenes. Originally the title song from Arcade Fire’s 2010 Grammy-Award winning album, ”The Suburbs” is transformed from an upbeat folksy piano-infused tune into a slow synthesized electro jam. The song is intensified even more with this filthy electro-dub remix from Crywolf. Hope you enjoy this addictive and slightly seductive cover.

The Neighbourhood – Sweater Weather (Little Daylight Remix)

Nothing beats the original version, but this remix by Little Daylight is the next best thing. I am so proud of The Neighbourhood for their huge success over the last year. These boys grew up and few towns over from me in Newbury Park, CA and have come a long way from their suburban band practice days. Their debut album, I Love You, was released back in April. They are currently signed with Columbia Records and will be on tour with Imagine Dragons this month. Little Daylight‘s version of this chart topping track leans more towards an electro chill wave vibe. He has also successfully remixed other artists such as Edwarde Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Passion Pit, and Temper Trap.

Glasser – Tremel (Jamie xx Remix)

The brain center behind The xx‘s composition of electronic drums and dark wave elements is accredited to their producer Jamie Smith, aka Jamie xx. Aside from remixing numerous tracks from The xx, he has also done some reworks for artists such as Florence and the Machine, Adele, and Radiohead. Jamie completely reconstructs this track from experimental singer-songwriter Glasser. The hiccuping vocals and bumping bass provide a tantalizing effect throughout the song that feeds the need to press repeat.

Aloe Blacc – I Need a Dollar (Big Gigantic Remix)

This upbeat R&B track is elevated into an electro infused jazz jam in full Big Gigantic fashion. If you are every lucky enough to see Big Gigantic live, the experience is depicted by a drummer and saxophonist blending jazz and hip hop music with electronic beats, not to mention the mind-boggling visuals and lights that synchronize to the beat of the music. Aloe Blacc recently entered into the EDM scene by lending his soulful vocals on Avicii‘s latest single, “Wake Me Up,” which also features work from Incubus guitarist, Mike Einziger.

Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness (Reich & Bleich Remix)

Some of you may have noticed the Lana Del Rey remixes are quite abundant; however, I assure you this remix is the cream of the crop. Lana Del Rey, aka Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, has become a bit of a pop culture icon in a short amount of time. With her classic beauty appeal and edgy lyrics, this singer/songwriter describes herself as a ”self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra” and “Lolita lost in the hood.” Reich & Bleich, the producers from Germany put a progressive house spin on the track. The depressing tone of the original is uplifted into a joyous, dance infused electronic listen suitable for parties and night long escapades. Check out the rest of her second studio album, Born To Die, released back in January 2012.

First Aid Kit – Winter Is All Over (Baauer Remix)

by in baauer, first aid kid, folk-step, remix, trap

baauer_totn

These two may seem like an unlikely pairing; however, the fusion of First Aid Kit‘s folky female vocals and Baauer‘s trap beats make a wonderful addition to the musical marriage known as folk-step. First Aid Kit‘s vocal harmonies and woodsy, folk-influenced songwriting take influence from the likes of Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom. ”Winter Is All Over You” received an electronic rework from the “Harlem Shake” master himself including chopped vocals and some serious bass. Enjoy the free remix.

Imagine Dragons – Radioactive (dBerrie Remix)

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons is the biggest rock hit of the year! With a world tour under their belt, appearances on major late night television shows, and artistic influences like Arcade FireMuse, and The Bealtes, these rockers from Las Vegas are blowing up across countless musical platforms. As the second single released from their debut studio album, Night Visions, “Radioactive” gets a progressive house rework from New York DJ dBerrie. This powerful revolutionist track becomes even more powerful with dBerrie’s anticipatory drops and dance party appeal.
